Grouped Member Home Case Study
BoB Connections is a business networking organisation with 12 live clubs and over 250 members. Every member who signs in lands on their member home page, the starting point for everything they do on the website between meetings.
The Business Problem
The member home page was a long table of buttons, each beside a sentence explaining it. Updating a profile, confirming attendance, passing a referral and recommending another member all looked the same, and the things members did most were mixed in with the things they rarely needed. On a phone it meant a lot of scrolling to find the right button. Head office had a similar problem when editing pages: a large Edit this page panel sat on top of the content, so editors never saw a page quite as visitors did.
The Solution
wildesoft.net replaced the table with six cards, each grouping the tasks that belong together:
- Your profile: personal and business details, company page, photo and logo, social links and login
- Meetings: confirming attendance, inviting and re-inviting visitors, and meeting receipts
- Your club: the club's members, arranging one-to-ones and emailing members
- Referrals and wants: giving and updating referrals, and what members are looking for
- Recommendations: giving, requesting and managing recommendations
- Grow your club: inviting contacts and, where the club takes payments, paying or renewing, with the renewal date beside it
Each link has a short plain line under it saying what it does, and the cards sit two across on a computer and stack on a phone. For editors, the big panel became a small Edit button with a dropdown, on each page and each block of content.
The Result
Members find what they came for at a glance, and new members can see everything the website does for them in one screen. Editors see each page as visitors do, with editing a click away.
Get in touch if your members or staff land on a page full of buttons and don't know where to start.
