Mint Case Study
Mint is a business technology and telecoms provider based in Brierley Hill, in the West Midlands, with offices in Buckinghamshire and the East Midlands. It supplies business mobiles, SIMs, phone systems and IT support. Between 2020 and 2024, wildesoft.net built two systems from scratch for Mint: a self-service SIM portal for Mint's own business customers, and an emergency staff text messaging service for one of those customers, Otsuka Pharmaceutical Europe.
The Business Problem
Mint's customers had to contact Mint for every routine SIM request. Checking which numbers they had, barring a lost phone or moving a number onto a new SIM card all waited on Mint's team, which was slow for the customer and kept Mint's staff busy with tasks customers could do themselves.
Separately, Otsuka wanted to be able to reach all of its staff by text if email ever went down, for example during a cyber attack. Its staff list lived in its Microsoft work directory and changed constantly, while its text messaging service needed its own contact lists. Many staff had no company phone, so their personal numbers weren't held anywhere the service could use.
The Solution
For Mint's customers, wildesoft.net built a secure SIM portal connected to Mint's SIM management platform. Each customer signs in to a searchable list of every SIM on its account and can bar or unbar a SIM, carry out a SIM swap onto a spare card, and label each SIM with a tag such as a person's name or a device. Requests show as in progress until the network completes them, and safeguards stop duplicate or repeated swaps.
For Otsuka, wildesoft.net built a cloud service that copies staff groups from the Microsoft directory into FireText, a UK text messaging service, every week. It creates and refreshes the groups, adds and updates contacts, prefers each person's work mobile, reads groups of any size and logs anyone whose number can't be used. Alongside it, a staff website lets people sign in with their Microsoft work account and add or remove a personal mobile number, with a clear explanation of how it will be used.
The Result
Mint's business customers now manage their SIMs themselves, at any time, and a lost phone can be barred in moments. Mint's team spends its time on work that needs it.
Otsuka's emergency text lists follow its staff directory automatically and include staff without a company phone, so an urgent message can reach everyone when it matters most.
