SIM Tags Case Study
Mint is a business technology and telecoms provider in the West Midlands. wildesoft.net built the self-service portal where Mint's business customers see and manage their SIMs, and later made it easier for customers to tell those SIMs apart.
The Business Problem
In the portal, each SIM was shown by its network, mobile number and SIM card number. That is fine for Mint, but a customer with a large account thinks in terms of people and devices: the sales manager's phone, the van tracker, the spare in the office drawer. Without a way to label each SIM, customers had to keep their own spreadsheet alongside the portal to work out which number was whose, and risked barring or swapping the wrong one.
The Solution
wildesoft.net added tags to the portal. Each SIM now has a tag button at the start of its row, showing its current label or a blank one. Clicking it lets the customer type a new label, which is saved straight back to Mint's SIM management platform, so it is kept with the SIM and not just in the browser.
The SIM list is now ordered by tag, then by mobile number, so SIMs with the same label sit together, and the table's search finds a SIM by its tag as easily as by its number.
The update was released alongside a refresh of the portal's branding and Mint's new address.
The Result
Customers can see at a glance which SIM belongs to which person or device, find it quickly and act on the right one. The portal now matches how customers actually think about their phones, and the side spreadsheet is no longer needed.
Get in touch if your customers keep their own notes because your system doesn't let them label things.
