SNS Manual Override Case Study

In Nutricalc, the Soil Nitrogen Supply (SNS) of each field drives its nutrient recommendations. SNS is normally worked out from the previous crop, soil type and rainfall.

The Business Problem

When any of that information was missing, Nutricalc assumed a middle-of-the-road SNS value. Advisers often knew a field far better than the software did, but had no way of telling Nutricalc. So recommendations could be based on an assumption the adviser knew to be wrong.

The Solution

wildesoft.net added a manual SNS override for each field. Advisers can now set the SNS directly where they have better knowledge. Nutricalc immediately recalculates the field's nutrient recommendations from that value, and the existing explanation of how each figure was calculated stays visible.

The Result

Advisers' professional judgement now feeds straight into the plan, rather than being worked around. Recommendations are more accurate for fields with incomplete history, and CXCS can give each farmer advice that reflects what is really happening on their land.
