The Business Problem

A full service report takes time to produce. It gathers every dish in the service, calculates the totals, writes a commentary on the results and lays the whole thing out as a PDF. Doing that while a user waits would make the tool slow, and a failure part-way through could leave a half-finished report. For a group with many services, reports had to be produced reliably and without anyone having to start each one by hand.

The Solution

wildesoft.net built a separate background service dedicated to report generation. It regularly looks for services that need a report, processes them in small batches, and for each one gathers the figures, has AI write a commentary on those calculated results, renders the charts directly into the document and saves the finished PDF. The website shows "report pending" until the report is ready.

The background service talks to the main system through its own secured connection, so only it can request report data. Each service is processed on its own, so a problem with one report is logged and reported without stopping the rest. Impact Measurement's staff can reset a report to have it produced again, for example after a menu changes. Detailed logging shows what was processed and when.

Service reports are now produced automatically in the background, and users are never left waiting on a slow page. Organisations with many services get consistent, finished reports, and staff can regenerate any report with a single click.
