Reliable Platform Case Study

Meal Analyser, from Impact Measurement Ltd, is an online tool used by caterers to measure the carbon and health impact of their food. It was built from scratch in 2025 by wildesoft.net, and from the start it needed to be dependable enough for paying customers and large organisations.

The Business Problem

A new product changes quickly. Features are added week by week, calculations are refined as the method develops, and payments and customer data have to keep working throughout. Without safeguards, each change risks breaking something that worked before, and problems seen by users in their browsers can go unnoticed until someone complains.

The Solution

wildesoft.net built Meal Analyser on the latest .NET platform, as a website, a separate back end and a background reporting service that run together as one system. Every build carries its own build number, so it is always clear which version is live, and a deployment script releases the whole system consistently.

An extensive set of automated checks was written across the website, the back end and the database, including tests that run against a real test database. Every main area, from sign-up and payments to dish analysis and organisation management, is covered, so changes can be made with confidence. Errors are caught by a central handler that shows users a friendly page, while the details are logged. Problems that happen in the user's browser are also sent back, stored and emailed to the developer, so issues are spotted and fixed before customers need to report them. Cookies and sessions were set up securely.

The Result

Meal Analyser can keep growing quickly without putting what already works at risk. Problems are found early, often before users notice them, and every release is consistent and traceable.
