Multi-Site Organisations Case Study
Meal Analyser, from Impact Measurement Ltd, calculates the carbon and health impact of food served by caterers. Its larger customers are not single kitchens but groups: an academy trust with many schools, or a restaurant chain with several venues. United Learning, one of the largest groups of schools in England, was one of the organisations the multi-site features were built for.
The Business Problem
The first version of the tool suited one user analysing their own dishes. A group needs many people working in one account, each seeing the schools or venues they are responsible for, while central staff see everything. Projects needed to be organised by region and division, and the group's own administrators had to manage their team without contacting Impact Measurement for every change.
The Solution
wildesoft.net added a full organisation layer. Each organisation can have many logins, and projects represent its sites, such as individual schools, each holding the catering services and dishes for that site. Projects and logins can be tagged with regions and divisions, so a regional manager sees the right sites, and results can be filtered the same way. Tags are easy to add while editing a project, and an unused tag can be removed.
Organisation administrators have their own area to add, edit and manage logins, see when each person last signed in, and get an overview of all their projects. Impact Measurement's own staff can manage every organisation, adjust credits, turn a project into a service-based one and, with care, view the tool as a particular user to help them with a problem.
The Result
Meal Analyser now works for a whole trust or chain, not just a single kitchen. Groups such as United Learning can organise their sites the way they are run, and manage their own people.
