Pick Lists and Van Loading Case Study

Apr to Nov 2022

Midland Super Cream runs a small fleet of delivery vans, plus a collection option for customers who call in. Each morning the warehouse needs to know exactly what goes on each van, and the office needs to be able to move drops between vans when plans change.

The Business Problem

Every invoice and delivery note sits on a physical clipboard for its van. Rebalancing the vans, or checking that the warehouse had loaded the right stock, meant a lot of paper shuffling. Totals on the van summary had to be right, and cancelled orders must never find their way onto a van.

The Solution

wildesoft.net built a pick list screen that shows every invoice and delivery note due out on a chosen date, defaulting to the next working day. Staff can move drops from one van to another, and a running count shows how much is loaded on each van.

Every order is given a van when it is created, and the van can be changed later. A pick list report, available for one van or all of them at once, lists every product and quantity to load along with the paperwork that makes up the load. A van load summary shows the day's invoices and deliveries for each van, with net, VAT and gross totals. Voided orders are left out of both, and an early error in the summary's totals was found and fixed.

The Result

The warehouse loads each van from a clear printed list, and the office can rebalance the round in seconds rather than shuffling paper. The van totals now match the paperwork on the clipboard.
