Organisations and Access Case Study

LM3 is used by large organisations such as Morgan Sindall, Kier and EDF, each with many staff, divisions and regions running their own projects.

The Business Problem

Large organisations needed to control who could see and do what. A regional team should see its own projects, a divisional manager theirs, and organisation administrators everything. Adding users, removing leavers and helping a colleague with their project all needed to be simple, and the Hub needed to handle licences and credits for different kinds of customer.

The Solution

wildesoft.net built organisation administration into the LM3 Hub. Administrators create logins for their colleagues, choose who is an organisation administrator, and tag each login with a division, while projects are tagged with regions. Each user then sees the projects that match. New logins can be sent a welcome email, or the login link can be copied in case an email does not arrive.

Support staff and administrators can view the Hub as another user to help them, with safeguards on who can do so. Users who leave are removed fully if they never started a project, or have their login disabled if they did, so no results are lost. The Hub supports licensed organisations and pay-as-you-go credits, with terms and conditions accepted at login, and a super administrator can turn an individual account into an organisation.

The Result

Large organisations can run LM3 across their whole business while each team sees only what it needs. Administration is in the customer's own hands, and support can help users quickly by seeing exactly what they see.
